While STEM industries are booming, there remains a significant lack of diversity in these fields where Native American students are underrepresented. We need to increase the number of Indigenous North Americans seeking degrees and careers in STEM RELATED careers. To accomplish this, students must start on the STEM pathway early. This is where The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) Puget Sound Professional Chapter, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, steps in. Our organization helps students move forward in their educational journeys by providing a wide range of programs and scholarship opportunities.
Our AISES chapter gives a community to Indigenous STEM professionals who work together to create and support community events and activities. We collaborate with area schools to mentor students, speak to classes, and participate in other activities. We also fund raise to support local students and other members to travel to conferences. We are a network of professionals in Region 1 dedicated to advancing the AISES mission.
AISES is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.
The vision of AISES is for the next seven generations of Indigenous people to be successful, respected, influential, and contributing members of our vast and everchanging global community.
